William

William 12th Lord and 3rd Earl was born 1683. He built a market in Kilmarnock in 1701. In the rising 1715 in favour of King James VIII, forsaking the tradition of his house, he supported the existing government and appeared at Irvine on 22nd August at the head of 500 of his own men. He died in 1720 having married Euphemia, daughter of William, Lord Ross.
