Thomas, sixth Lord
Boyd, fought
with his father at Langside.
On 14th July, 1570, being "vext with a vehement doulour in his head"
he had to leave to travel in France.
He was with his father at Ruthvon and was charged with high treason 1584.
In 1591, he again in rebellion was fined 10,000 marks. In 1595 he again
had a pass to go abroad "for remedie of his diseases". He died
in 1612.
He married first Margaret
Campbell of Loudoun, but he appears to have married later June
Stockdale and Elizabeth Wallace. He had children:
- Robert
- Master of Boyd
- Sir Thomas of Bedley
- mentioned 5th January, 1600, as being a rebel. He married in 1603

- Andrew - In April
1599 he set upon and wounded his uncle, Colonel David Boyd of
Tourgill in the High Street of Glasgow, and on 31st July the same year,
attempted to murder him at Kilmarnock, for which he was denounced as
a rebel
- John - had the five
mork land of Whiteside from his father
- James
- Marion - She married
James Hamilton, first Earl of Aborcorn. She was a very active
Catholic and in January, 1628, she was excommunicated in the Kirk of
Paipley for her contumacy
- Isabel - married
first 1589 to John Blair. She married secondly Sir Dougal
Campbell. In 1641 Francis Hamilton petitioned parliament
against the incatations and witchcraft practiced against him by Dame
Esabel Boyd in 1607 and 1608, "then relict of the late John Blair,
etc."
- Agnes - married in
1600 Sir George Elphinstone
His lordship also had a natural
son:
9. Mr. Andrew Boyd MA.
Being diseased he prayed licence from the Presbytery in 1608 to pass
into England. He was appointed Bishop of Lismore or Argyll in
1613. He was the secon of the natural offspring of the Boyd family to
become a bishop
