Sir Thomas

SIR THOMAS BOYD OF KILMARNOCK, Knight, was arrested by King James I for having wasted the Crown rents.

Early in 1439 he slew Sir Allan Stewart, Knight, at Polmais Thorn "for old feud that was betwixt them". Alexander Stewart, to avenge his brother's death, set upon Sir Thomas Boyd "in plaine battle" when Sir Thomas was "cruelly slain with many valiant men on every side."

He left issue:

  1. Robert, first Lord Boyd
  2. Sir Alexander Boyd of Drumcol - in 1466 he was appointed to superintend the knightly exercises of the young King. On the downfall of his brother he was attained and executed on Castle Hill, Edinburgh, in 1469
  3. Marion - married Maxwell of Calderwood
  4. Margaret - married Alexander, Lord Montgomerie
