Alexander Morison

Sir William Scott of Ardross. She was a strict Presbyterian and
refused to attend the curate, for which her husband was fined $1500
and imprisoned in Edinburgh Castle. He asked the Privy Council to relieve
him of responsibility for his wife's delinquencies, as she would in
no wise covenant to attend the curate, but they would not, holding that
husbands were to be accounted masters of their wives.
