Robin Robin Gerard Penleigh CBE , born January, 13th, 1919. Baptised All Saints Church, East St. Kilda, Victoria, Australia. Distinguished Architect, Robin wrote many books on architecture, including:
His critical work shaped the direction of Australian architecture and was acknowledged with several awards Awarded the Haddon Travelling Scholarship to tour Europe and Scandinavia in 1950-51. Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1956-7. He designed the Ormond College and Baillieu Library at Melbourne University and the fountain next to Flinders Street Station, Melbourne. He became a Commander of the British Empire in 1970. He died 1972 narrowly missing receiving a knighthood. He married Patricia, daughter of Ralph E Madder by his wife Letitia Gough (sister of Doris Gough who married Merric Boyd) and had children:
