Guy Martin a'Beckett Boyd was born on 12th June at home 12 Wahroonga Crescent, Murrumbeena, 1923. Died 26th April, 1988 of heart attack..

He married Phyllis Emma Nairn.

They had Children:

Considered by some as Australia's top figurative sculptor in his time.

A potter 1946 to 1965 and was partner with Duncan Miller and the Fleggs in the Martin Boyd Pottery (Guy tried briefly changing his name to Martin but returned to using his original name) and later partnered with his wife in the Guy Boyd Pottery. He became a sculptor in 1965.

His commissions include sculptures in both Melbourne and Sydney's international airports, Caulfield town hall, the Commonwealth Bank and has pieces in the National Gallery, Melbourne. He has had exhibitions of his work in Australia, England, Canada and the US.

He also won the Churchill Fellowship to study art overseas in 1968 and was appointed the Art Advisor to Deakin University in 1988.

'Guy Boyd' written by Anne Von Bertouch and Patrick Hutchins was published by Lansdowne Press in 1976.

Australian Co-ordinator of 'Save Lindy Chamberlain' and wrote 'Justice in Jeopardy' in her defence.

President of the Brighton Foreshore Protection Committee which he founded and a plaque commemorating his achievements is erected on the beach at Brighton, Victoria, Melbourne.

President of the Port Phillip Protection Society and was arrested campaigning against the damming of the Franklin River in Tasmania.

1937 Commenced work as a jeweller's apprentice and then worked at a number of jobs, including in a nuts and bolts factory and as a builder's labourer
1941-1946 Military service in the Army, firstly with a survey unit and later teaching pottery at the Convalescent Depot, Ingleburn, NSW
1946-1948 Following his discharge from the Army, studied sculpture at East Sydney Technical College under Lyndon Dadswell
1946 Founded Martin Boyd Pottery in Sydney, in partnership with Duncan Miller and Norma and Len Flegg
1948 Married Barbara Cooper.

Guy Boyd died of a heart attack in Melbourne on 26 April
